Youth and Young Adults of Color Conference at All Souls, March 27-30
Those of us who attended the Youth and Young Adult of Color Conference in
Chicago in March of 2002 had the rare and wonderful opportunity to connect
with other Unitarian Universalist Youths and Young Adults of Color from
all over the country. We had a chance to share and exchange ideas as well as
our tears, laughter, and love. Each connection allowed us to deepen
our faith, awareness and identity as UUs of color.
On the weekend of March 28th, 2003, will we have the opportunity to
reconnect with old friends and make new friends, without having to
leave the Joseph Priestley District! All Souls Church in Washington,
DC will have the honor of hosting this special event. Please mark your
calendars... The Youth and Young Adult of Color Conference promises to
be an event you will never forget! Please pass this announcement to
others who may be interested, and also check http://www.druumm.org
for more details and registration.
For more details, please contact Jennifer Bacon, at jnbacon at hotmail.com
The conference won't get fully started until Friday evening, so don't
worry if you can't attend starting Thursday night.

Youth and Young Adult White Allies Conference at the Silver Spring, MD Church,
March 27-30.
C*UUYAN and YRUU are proud to present the 2nd Youth & Young Adult
White Allies Conference:
This spring white youth and young adults will be meeting again in an
effort to learn more about racism, and how having white skin gives us
privilege over people of color. We are going to spend time talking
about how our faith community can start breaking down this privilege
in our churches and fellowships, along with the outside world. We
will address head on internalized racial superiority. We will also be
giving definitions for all and any of the terms above that you may
have never heard before. This is an event for white youth and young
adults who are dedicated to learning how to be allies to communities
and people of color. This is the time for action to follow our words.
This conference is scheduled to be running parallel to the youth and
young adults of color conference also happening in the DC area. The
two conferences will be getting together and sharing and creating
goals for the future. This will be a working conference, and there is
the expectation that people will continue with anti-racism work
afterwards.
Three questions for you that come from Paul Kivel's book Uprooting Racism
What do you believe in?
Who do you stand with?
What are you going to do about it?
Visit http://www.uuyan.org/conferences/march27-30reg.html for the
registration form
The conference won't get fully started until Friday evening, so don't
worry if you can't attend starting Thursday night.
